My Lovely Horse
Given the appalling lack of ABC transcriptions of this quintessential Irish folk song, beloved equally by session singers and equestrian clergy everywhere, I present:

- Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

How about the other (original) version of the tune:
K:C
z2E2 EE3 | E2EE EE2z | C8 | EEEE- E2EE | EE2E- EEEE | z2C8 ||
Now that's the real pure drop version.

Now that's the real pure drop version.

The tritone in the cadence - F# against the CMaj chord - is especially primitive and haunting.

I agree and bow to your exceptional and deep understanding of music of this quality. I could never hope to match your expert knowledge in such areas.MTGuru wrote:No no, the details matter:benhall.1 wrote:K:C

My music teacher once told me that someday I'd actually be able to use the word "tritone". And I must admit, the thrill is a bit overwhelming.
Of course, my transcription reflects the original pure drop sitting room version in, er, D. The overproduced, commercialized stage performance is simply not worth bothering with.

I believe the tune to the song is also known by the name "The Steaming Pile".

This is one of the few transcriptions where I expect the composer might contact me to complain by asking that the C: credit be ... removed.Mr.Gumby wrote:I expected you had tackled this version. Ah well.
