Lovely young lady, and a very good concertina player. She recently posted on Facebook that she'll be at the Catskills Irish Arts Week next month. That's an hour or two from my house. It'd be nice to make it there and hear her play in person.

She is an awesome concertina player and dancer as well. You should make every effort to see her in person. And this is a big year for the CIAW as its their 20th anniversary. If you can't go during the week, Sat 7/19 is the big festival day and sessions all day.

If I can get someone to stay with Mom and give her meds....

I'm not going to get my hopes up much that it will happen. Not completely ruling it out though.

"American guitarist"? was that really necessary?

I am just quoting the info on the website. Besides, is 'American' an insult? :)

In general, of course not. However in that context, actually it is a bit of a put down. It's a bit like saying "Just to draw your attention to the fact that this is an American guitar player, not authentically Irish like the rest of the artists. I hope you won't mind..."

Hence why I asked if it was really necessary. Does it really matter where he's from? Some of the best Irish musicians out there are American....

Hey, personally i don't care if he's from Mongolia, again i just quoted the website..
I think it is rather common anyway to present musicians like "Ron Random, the Donegal flute player" " Jane Doe, the lovely scottish harp player" etc. Any way, let it go, there's nothing in it, seriously ;)

I get that you quoted, so I'm not picking on you.

As for the rest of your comment, if that we're true it would say "Martin Hayes, Clare fiddler". So I don't agree that there's nothing in it. I have nothing to let go, but I did think it worth making the one comment (and the follow up explanations) hopefully to enlighten people and make them think about what they say...
