Just heard on the news Derek Bell, harper with the Chieftains died today.

Thanks for sharing that. Very sad. I really like his record "Derek Bell plays with himself" (it was recommended by Elvis Costello as on of the top 100 records of the century, btw). I've always loved seeing him on the Chieftain photos in his suit and tie, blinking myoptically through his black-rim glass past a strutting Paddy Maloney. He has looked the same over the past fourty years. I forget now, but was he a part of that original Sean O'Riorda outfit?

Never mind the question. He wasn't. Only joined the Chieftains in the seventies.
