Fowler on the Moor

Post by Key_of_D »

Just decided to finally give this tune a go, it's been naggin' at me for a while. Anyways, I've only one recording of this tune, Willie Clancy's from his Volume 2 piping cd. He seems to play it AAB. I don't know how popular this tune is, or whether it's a slide or single jig... So I'm wondering if someone out there could chime in on this. Appreciate it.

Here's what I currently have:

X: 1
T: Fowler On The Moor
M: 12/8
L: 1/8
R: slide
K: Gmaj
|: G2E EEE c3 B2G | ABA G2E A2c B2A |1 G2E EEE c2A B2G |
A2E G2E D3 D2E :|2 G2A B2c d3 B2G | AGE G2E D3 D2E |
|: G2A B2c d2G B2G | ABA G2E A2c B2A | G2A B2c d3 B2G |
|1 AGE G2E D3 D2E :|2 AGE G2E D3 B2A |]

Though this is how Willie played it from the recording (more or less):

X:1
T:The Fowler on the Moor
M:12/8
L:1/8
R:Single Jig
K:GMaj
|: G2E EEE c3 B2G | ABA G2E A2c B2A | G2E EEE c2A B2G | A2E G2E D3 D2E |
G2E EEE c3 B2G | ABA G2E A2c B2A | G2A B2c d3 B2G |1 AGE G2E D3 B2A :|2 AGE G2E D3 D2E |]
|: G2A B2c d2G B2G | ABA G2E A2c B2A | G2A B2c d3 B2G |1 AGE G2E D3 D2E :|2 AGE G2E D3 B2A |]
