Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

When I'm thrashin' it, that's not exactly what I had in mind. I'ts a major pain to be head-banging while playing flute, dude! :P

The UN? Ineffectual.
Bush? Draconian.
Spillane? Confused.
Flatley? A whore.
Chris? He's in Mexico getting festive with the locals, probably getting grapes peeled for him by sloe-eyed beauties with cinnamon skin and lustrous hair as the sun sets in a tequila-soaked whirl. The lad's got his priorities straight. No contest, I say. 8)

Awww yeah! Just a few more votes and I will be the Supreme Leader of Irish traditional music, at which point I will:
- Act without consent of the UN
- Have Bush impeached and imprisoned for war-crimes, direct violation of international law and illegal action under the U.S. constitution
- Force Michael Flatley to put his clothes back on, never to take them off again, and then put him in stocks in a little pub in Gurteen, Co. Sligo and let the publicans teach him a lesson he won't soon forget
- put a restraining order on Davy Spillane to keep him 500 meters from any electronic keyboards or other synthetic, electronic instruments, as well as take away all his whistles and forcing him to prove that he makes his own.
Life as Supreme Leader will be good.....
Chris
P.S. - Did I forget to mention that my throne will be hammock on the beach, where I will be attended to night and day by beauiful women....

Well, I still think my skills as tyrant have been overlooked, and wrongly so; but no hard feelings, Chris! If you feel the need for any advice in bringing the sh*t to heel, just give me a call.

Which one will let us have Autoharps®, tunable bodhrans, and 10-course citterns?

Yes. Brad Henry wound up being governor.

10-course citterns?!?!?! Yikes, Walden, how many fingers do you have??? Your list of exotic instruments is becoming more rarified by the day. Have you thought of competing with *terrified stage whisper* Lark in the Morning? I daresay you'd run a tighter ship.

A cittern has five courses, that's what makes it a cittern. If it had four it'd be an octave mando or a bouzouki depending on scale length. The closest living example outside of the Irish revival cittern (5 string double coursed) is the german waldzither which has 9 strings, the lowest course is a single string. If you go to www.ebay.de theres usually a few kicking around. There's also the Puerto Rican Cuatro which has ten strings, but the scale is a lot shorter (19" or so), this instrument is a spanish grandson of the original cittern/citole/cithern/waldzither.... of germany.
