For anyone interested in old style Clare music : earlier tonight a CD of archive recordings of Peter O'Loughlin, Paddy Canny and Paddy Murphy (flute, fiddle and concertina, respectively), with (young) Geraldine Cotter on the piano, under the title of 'Friends of Note', was launched. Over a number of years during late seventies and the early eighties Séamus MacMathúna recorded the three men and their teenage accompianist. A selection of these recordings is now, cleaned up and restored, available.

The CD was launched by Nicky McAuliffe, followed by a magnificent concert in which Geraldine Cotter was joined by family members of the original players (mostly grandchildren) and a good selection of their musical associates. Great night it was too.

The CD should be in Custy's shortly, right now I don't see it on their website yet.
