I'm surprised nobody has noted the death of Donegal fiddle legend Vincent Campbell.
He died on 2nd December aged 80 and there's a nice tribute to him on the last Rolling Wave on RTE.
Searches on Youtube throw up a number of videos and of course there was a double CD of his playing released a while ago titled The Purple Heather containing over 80 tracks of tunes and stories. A vital link with the music of the Dohertys and others we are lucky to have such a store of Vincent's music. His brother Jimmy is still playing and his nephew Peter also carries on the tradition.
He was buried in Glenties cemetry on 4th December.
