Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

(And I liked it quite a lot the first time!) As AaronFW mentioned, the sequence of the tracks on the CD works really well. I really appreciate the talent and effort that went into this album.

I give it
Thanks for your kind words John. As you may appreciate, this sort of project is an intensely personal thing, so it's really pleasing when people find some of the pleasure in it that we had in the making of it.

Let me know what your favourite is ... when you sort it out ... (I'm always interested in that).

This week’s track from “Tonight at Paddy Mac’s” on BandCamp is Port na bPucaí. It’s one of my favourite slow airs – a classic on pipes, here played by myself on fiddle. (Someone kindly said, “Nice imitation of pipes there!”)

Enjoy! 

This week’s track from “Tonight at Paddy Mac’s” on BandCamp is some nice hop jigs. I love a good hop jig. These are Cucanandy, The Boys of Ballisodare and The Dusty Miller. I find there’s something positively hypnotic about that last tune. Can’t get enough of it! :)

Enjoy! :)

This week’s track from “Tonight at Paddy Mac’s” on BandCamp is a couple of truly classic reels, The Morning Thrush and Lord Gordon’s. We absolutely love these reels! They also happen to be the two reels performed, live, in the YouTube video linked below.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks Nano. You have no idea how long it took us to train that tap! It's hard to find something to bribe a tap with. I mean, it's pretty much got everything it wants.

Oh, very good! :) *

It's many years since I've played that tune. I wouldn't be able to play it at the moment. As I recall, it was frustrating enough trying to learn it when I did play it!

* And yes, I did get the reference. Fortunately, neither Greg nor myself were held captive at the time of making this video.

I learned it on whistle a few years back, but am now working it up on SSP (so should also be able to do it on border pipes). I think it's probably tricky on anything!

I should think it would be absolutely heavenly on border pipes. I don't recall hearing it played on BP. Lovely on SSP, too, I should think.

Well done. Given what you had to work with, I suppose it's to be expected that in the end the rhythm still proved a bit ... fluid, for want of a better word.

This week’s track from “Tonight at Paddy Mac’s” on BandCamp is a couple of hornpipes, The Pleasures of Hope and Mrs Crotty’s.

Please forgive the little musical joke! 

Enjoy! 

This week’s track from “Tonight at Paddy Mac’s” on BandCamp is the two tunes, Joe Bane’s and The Garden of Daisies. For want of a better description we’ve called them barndances.

I’ve been wanting to do something with The Garden of Daisies for years, as it’s such a beautiful tune, so I was delighted to find that it fitted so well after Joe Bane’s, which Greg really wanted to do.

Enjoy! :)
