I am surprised nobody has posted a link to this. Second jig in, Andrew and Eileen on great form as usual.

Mary's body language while the others are playing is telling, I think, suggesting she doesn't like the tune very much.Second jig in, Andrew and Eileen on great form as usual.
Saw the Boruma trio in the last two weeks, very enjoyable in the bleak days of late Februari. They didn't play this one though.

- Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Not sure about that - she appears to be like that from the beginning. Perhaps she doesn't like The Cook in the Kitchen either.Mr.Gumby wrote:Mary's body language while the others are playing is telling, I think, suggesting she doesn't like the tune very much.Second jig in, Andrew and Eileen on great form as usual.

I see he plays the b part an octave higher than how I typically hear it. Is that commonly done with this tune?chaos97 wrote:A video of Donegal fiddle player Danny Meehan:

Re: The Irish Washerwoman.
He doesn't really go for the full octave. He only deviates from the regular for two bars: instead of going Bd |~g3 dBd | gfg bag | he does something like ga |(b3 b)ga| bga bag | and then returns to the regular programme. A local version, probably, I don't have a precedent for you but Donegal music is at the outer reaches of what I know about.I see he plays the b part an octave higher than how I typically hear it.

Last call to listen to the "Irish Washerwoman" recordings in the "Dropbox" folder I created earlier. I'll be deleting them to free up space tomorrow morning.
