11/12/02 Teri Kessler writes, "Carthy's Reel/Gan Ainm. I amended Carthy's Reel. I had been searching for a reel to combine with Carthy's to make a set and was having no success. Unaware of my search, Peter Laban was kind enough to send me a reel from an old Micho Russell recording he though I might enjoy. It so happens that it fit with Carthy's like a glove. According to Micho, "one that has no name to it". It's fast becoming a favorite."
http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm Officially, the government uses the term “flap,” describing it as “a condition, a situation or a state of being, of a group of persons, characterized by an advanced degree of confusion that has not quite reached panic proportions.”

Teri ,the tune is actually a simple version of the Curragh Races, taken down to Em and then processed by Micho.

I have an e mail in the works but the server in Ennis seems down

Peter

You're absolutely right. Sent you an email. Using Clancy's version of Curragh Races, you can see what Micho did - transposed and opted for the octave variation. Very creative bit of work his part; great detective work on yours!
