My Windows Media Player wont play any of the tunes from Clips and Snips. Sorry if this is an old problem that's been long solved but I'd appreciate any help.

You need to use Quicktime.

Good, that's a start - it looks as if the problem's my end. Any ideas what it may be?

No, it's not muted. It works with other web sites, though not all of them, including my own CDs and play lists.

No, the PC doesn't make any sounds but it does say its playing whatever title I'm trying to download from Clips and Snips. It buffers then just stops.

I have Quick Time, as suggested above so will see how to get that working if I can.

Thanks.

I may have been a little hasty in my "Quicktime" response.

When I open the Clips directly from Clips & Snips, I have to open them in Quicktime. If I download them, I can listen in MediaPlayer with no problem.

It occurs to me that I never even used Quicktime before I started playing the whistle -- in fact I had to install it just for all the internet sound clips.

Quick Time has to be bought before I can use it!

In the meantime I've tried downloading several tunes to Windows Media Player as suggested in the Introduction to this site, but none of the tunes will play that way, either.

I'm salivating (more than usual) at the thought of hearing all those tunes on the long list members have posted; I want to compare my playing,
so please keep your suggestions coming.

Success! I can play the tunes by downloading them to my desk top then playing them on Media Player Classic. They sound great. Onwards and upwards...

Thanks for all your help.

Of the six tunes I downloaded only The Sally Gardens on the Burke came through the Media Windows Player. None of the others would. I mention this in case someone can use that as a clue as to what's going on...???!@!

By the way, Katie's Roisin Dubh (sp?) is outstanding. Just great. If you haven't heard it, download it now. Treat yourself.

Can't find a number for my WMP. The computer is six months old. I presume it was loaded with all the latest by our regular, local IT engineer who built it for me. All other programs work well, including old ones.

I have the same version as Denny -- maybe WMP 11.0 is too new and has incompatibility issues. Can you download the older 10.0 version?
