Well as I'm not after buying them, I'm not bothered. I don't reckon they will sell to anyone from this forum anyway. I'd much rather swap them and my dipper for a fairly recent wooff C# set. I'm offering a good deal, 3 wooff chanters, drones, regs, bellows(all wooff) and a unique Dipper concertina worth about £7000 for a recent wooff C# set in good working order.
By my reckoning, that's about £26,000 worth

Anyone tempted?

Is the Wooff B chanter part of the Wooff B practice set which was sold on eBay a month ago?

Hi PJ

Seems to be, you would have to ask Ferris to be sure. I am surprised there are no bids on it

I am also surprised that no one has bid on the Maloney full set.

The seller of the "Maloney" set doesn't say who made it, just that he bought it from JJ Maloney. I've not heard of JJ Maloney before. Does anyone have information on him?

There was a pipemaker called Moloney/Malony in Sheffield during the eighties. He died late eighties/early nineties. A friend took Geoff Wooff and myself to visit him around 1988 or so and it was him who gave Geoff the idea to use high density foam as keypads. Unfortunately his first name escapes me. I do remember he was a nice man who had at least one lovely daughter who made great coffee and was a photographer who could discuss the ins and outs of a Linhoff over aforementioned coffee.

Sheffield would seem near enough to the present location of the pipes for sale.

Malony set: Taylor style keys but they appear when I enlarge the photos to be mounted in wooden blocks like conventional keywork. Have seen a set by John Addison like this which dates from around the mid to late 70's with very slim raised blocks holding the keys

My wooff pipes on eBay seem to be stuck at £4600. I'll end the listing early for £7500 is anyone is interested.

So you pulled down your B chanter despite having bids? Sounds like a departure from EBAY rules. tisk tisk. Why didn't you just put a reserve on it if you wanted a certain minimum price instead of trying to save $4 bucks? Also, your best bids come at the very end.

That's why i generally shy away from auctions/Ebay (unless the ad has Buy it now option)
I friggin hate not being able to give an offer i can afford/think is fair, talk to seller and perhaps "meet at the middle".
Also it is a nightmare to compare prices at Ebay since some offer goods very cheap and compensate with extortionate shipping etc.
Ach well, excuse the rant. :)

This guy sold almost 500 items and bought over 800 on ebay (look at total rating of 1166). Clearly an experienced ebayer who should be aware of the rules and being trust worthy. Ebay listings and bids are actually legal contracts, though hard to enforce unless one wants to go through the trouble. I agree that dealing with ebay is often an unattractive option, but only because of people like Ferris here.
