John, perhaps the newly minted widow? Or more probably, your batty old batchelor Uncle upon you whom it has fallen to settle their estate?

One does wonder how people end up with things, it's probably the owner passing away and the next of kin knowing nothing about the stuff.

I sold a set of uilleann pipes years ago to a friend who later passed away. I don't know who ended up with all his instruments. He had no family here, they were all overseas. Many years later the pipes showed up on Ebay by a seller the other side of the country. Who was this person and how did they end up with my old pipes?

We had a fairly prominent musician pass away here a few years ago, somehow a folk music shop ended up with all his instruments. I bought one of his sets of pipes for $200, it had important missing bits but of course the shop owner had no clue where they might be.

Has anyone noticed the shipping details? USPS economy? Up to 15 days? Thats a disaster waiting to happen for the pipes! And the shipping costs aren't cheap....$65? you could easily do UPS ground for that. Sketchy

Looks very much Charles Roberts. The bass drone looks different because the No.1 piece (reed piece) has been connected to the No. 4 piece (tuning slide/resonator).

john wrote:In reference to the treasure trove of pipes being sold on eBay, how would someone come into possession of such a haul, not even knowing what they'd acquired? One of those blind auctions where they sell things lost in the post, or lost property?
The seller states that the pipes were included in a storage locker that was won at auction.
