Cane sources?

A forum about Uilleann (Irish) pipes and the surly people who play them.

Anyone have any Cane sources/tool sources they would like to share (other than the major pipemakers)?

In the U.S., you could try Celtic Fire at:
http://www.celticfire.com/

Then there's always Na Píobairí Uilleann in Dublin at:
http://www.iol.ie/~npupipes/index.html

I ordered all my tools and cane through Na Píobairí Uilleann and was very pleased.

Good luck

Sears was mentioned on the uilleann list for a cane cutting tool called a "Handi-cut" which has a razor blade that comes down on an anvil (plastic, replaceable). The post said it cuts very narrow pieces off the end of the cane to shorten it and leaves a very clean cut. (I may need to ask you to remember that for me down the road.)

http://tinwhistletunes.com/clipssnip/newspage.htm Officially, the government uses the term “flap,” describing it as “a condition, a situation or a state of being, of a group of persons, characterized by an advanced degree of confusion that has not quite reached panic proportions.”

I already printed out the sears-tool item and archived that particular message. I'll probably go out and take a look at it today or tommorow. It sounds ideal.
