Nice work, David! Looks like a good piece of ebony too.

Alan, what head width and length did you end up using? Tube staple @3.2 I.D. or something bigger?

Hello Bill,

Pretty much 11mm wide, (though I have a 10.5mm prepared for the 'proper' reed, but will be experimenting anyway). 90mm slip. 52mm length staple (currently 3.2mm ID tube, but I will be rolling as I think it will be better for the E/e relationship). Pitch was bang on with prior to any adjustment. I like it when chanters do that :)

I think I owe you an email. Will be in touch shortly......

cheers

What a treat! It got me out of my slumber. Thanks for posting that clip Alan...and the pics. You must be totally distracted with a B stick! I think we need a solo album...AlanB's "B"

I still remember that one reed you made...the one with the phone ringing in the background.

Hey all, I finally get to post on this thread! My new Kirk Lynch half set got to me, only a 1 year wait because the set was actually made in 2003 and the original owner no longer had time for them and so sold them back to Kirk. They are friggin beautiful, and sound as good as they look! (recordings to follow if I'm brave enough!).

Hi folks,

here´s a picture of my new practice set made by Jens Güntzel from Saxonia, Germany. (African Blackwood, imitation ivory mounts, silvered brass)

Another picture of my pipe is on his homepage: http://dudelsackwerkstatt.de/index.php?article_id=14&datei=upstefan2.jpg&galerie=0&pos=11

It sounds great ;-)

Cheers

You should contact Güntzel for another reed or possibly to look over this chanter. I have one of his very first chanters and the tuning is fine, with the original reed as well as with a reed that I can't remember who made it...

Uilliam,

Lovely chanter. Any chance of posting a sound file or two?

How does your new Aebi chanter sound? I heard a sound sample of one last month that sounded so good that I ordered one (for delivery around April 2010).
