Wow, who's that guy from the US east coast with (what looks to be) that Taylor Bros. set? That is a very interesting setup and sound!

What are you referring to Beau?

You must mean this guy, the ever infamous Mark Hillmann. He bangs on those regulators like there's no tomorrow, similar to Jerry O'Sullivan. Here's another trademark of his playing, in a room of box players and and banjos etc. can you hear him above all else? He's wicked with variations. His taylor set is 150 years old but thats is his own chanter. Talk to him, he'll make one for you. Great teacher also speaking as one of his students.

Yes, that's the guy. What an interesting set he has. I think the chanter is of a different maker, though.

There was a cool Taylor (or Tayloresque) set with double-bored regs there- I think Michael Hubbert is restoring it??? Anybody have photos of that set?

You're not talking about the one Mark Hillman was playing? That was another one, right? I think that Mark said that he's going to sell his set on Ebay or something. :)

That would be Barry O'Neill's pipes, with the double regulators.

It was a great weekend alright and it was wonderful to see everyone.

Jimmy and Sean gave incredible performances at the concert. Jimmy's tight playing was dazzling and Sean's overall show was truly entertaining. Every note from his chanter is so expressive and straight from the heart.

The SCUPC website will be updating regularly over the week so keep an eye on it. Anyone with photos or comments to share please email them to me. A clip of Joey Abarta playing in the concert is up already with thanks to Michael Eskin at www.socalpipers.com/tionol_2007.html

All the best to all and see you next year!

Pat.

The beauty of corporate travel: I got to sleep on the plane to Dallas and kinda recover from the tionol. When I get home this week end, I'll post pics via Pat's site.

Grand time.

A note to Martin P- haven't taken the windcap off yet :-)

I am given to the notion that it is The Blackberry Blossom, aka The Boys Of Ballynahinch. If I'm right, what do I win :) :) :) ?
