Does anyone else have a problem with bottom D annd even a few notes into the first octave gurgling when you use a rush in the bore?

Would a longer or shorter or perhaps a thinner rush cure this? The tone is very sweet when the bore is stepped down a bit, bit - but I can't seem to find the happy medium between sweet and mellow, and gurgles!

Brian, have you contacted David Daye about this? what does he recommend?
What humidity (and temperature) levels are you playing at?
Do you have other reeds to try?
