It was a chanter with a clear plastic top to make the reed visible to the high speed camera. Phil wanted to see the modes of vibration of the reed to see where to put his bridle system for optimum effect

Solved my problem. My VPN was playing up with the Link. When I "go there naked", no problem.

That 'stick' sounds good, but seems godawful fat.

Looking at Westwell's Patent drawings, this seems a novel approach to an adjustable Reed tuning slide.
