Reed Database

Post by bagpipeworks »

I have heard that some body is trying to set up a database for chanter reeds, the idea is to ask people how many different types of makers reeds they have tried that work and play in tune in their own chanter/s.

Has anyone out there tried this method of swapping reeds over, do you think it could work ????.

Davy.

Davy,
The reed database by Evertjan 't Hart is still under construction. Here is the URL: http://www.hartdd.com/reed/

His original announcement was on this post:

Swapping reeds between chanters?
I've had pretty good luck exchanging Simack, O'Grady and Childress reeds between those makers chanters. The O'Grady chanter seems to be the most forgiving.

I put a Kirk Lynch reed in one of your chanters Davy and it sounds great, as did Tom Kennedy's reeds.
