Reed plug

Could someone suggest a suitable material to make a sleeve to insert into the top of the chanter where the reed is plugged in. Thank you.

Your question has me stumped and curious in equal measure. What is the purpose of the sleeve/plug that you're asking about ?

If it's just a sleeve, brass, copper or stainless would work. To plug the reed seat, any hardwood would do.
