Francis O'Neill - an excellent website

Post by nwhitmer »

I recently found out about this website:

Preserving Irish Traditional Music in Chicago: Francis O'Neill

Lots of remarkable information about the great music collector & his life and times. Photos. Some references to other pipers here & there, especially in "The Contributors" section.

Enjoy!

Tell us something.: I'm a historian and the author of "The Beat Cop:Chicago's Chief O'Neill and the Creation of Irish Music," published by the University of Chicago in 2022. I live in Arlington VA and play the flute sincerely but not well

My favorite find on that site is this:

O'Neill never mentions raising livestock!
