I have heard it said he was removed from stage during a US tour around that time for that introduction.

Some people have such dirty minds, he's talking about the four legged variety of course.

Regarding this footage. I obtained it through a very co-incidental, non-piping, connection that I made on a trip to the US once.
I've no idea about what equipment was used to record, but the image wasn't great on what I received.
At some point I might take this to a professional, rather than me just using a home vhs / pc to do a digital transfer.....

Is that perhaps a reflection of his time studying under Leo Rowsome? The regulator work in that clip sounds very Rowsome-esk to me, at least like the records of Leo Rowsome that I have.

Thanks for posting Malcolm. Liam was only, what, 25 years old when this was recorded. When did he start learning to play the pipes? By the way I still have the Wooff C chanter and it is still going strong with a reed Geoff made for it around 16 years ago

Thanks for posting this Maclolm. Liam did a concert at the Washington Square Church during that same visit to the US in 1971. There is a decent recording of that doing the rounds. Pretty much the same sets of tunes.

If you listen carefully, you'll notice that he calls it "An *phuis* fhliuch", which does indeed refer to the four-legged variety. I wonder was this intentional and, if so, was it on the advice of a lawyer or the parish priest?

Tell us something.: If you flush your toilet 7 times whilst lilting "The Bucks of Oranmore", an apparition of one of the great pipers of old will appear in the mirror, you will be blessed with good reeds, but cursed with bad bags and bellows.

Brilliant, this is a true treasure. :)
