I have a heavy cowhide bag. I located a slow leak that is, alas, from a nick I evidently made with a knife with cutting the hole for the blowpipe stock months ago. It doesn't go all the way through and thankfully is a few cm from the tie in, so clearly I need to glue on a leather patch and it shouldn't be hard to fix. I seek advice on 2 questions.
1. What glue/cement would work best on cowhide? Rough side is on outside, which is where I'm attaching the patch.
2. Should the patch be rough side down (that is, rough to rough) for best adhesion? Or does it not matter?
Regards,
Ken

Try Shoo Goo. I used it for a patch 10+ years ago and it's still airtight.
