As above. The rest of the notes are ok-ish. But the reed squeaks when you try to crow it as well. Any ideas, or will I have suck it up and look like a moron to my pipemaker?

Your pipe maker might inform you that your tenor regulator wasn't designed to play a D.

Unless...

Um, what key is your set pitched in?

You could try opening the reed a scant of a smidgen

Already tried opening the reed. Didn't do anything.

Check the set for leaks, starting with the keypads on your regulators. Even a small leak could lead to a squeaky note.

Anyone got a good method foe testing for small leaks ?

Although it's not to everyone's taste, you could go to a darkened bathroom, put a light on the reg so that only it is illuminated. While looking in the mirror over the sink, blow some smoke into the reed end of the reg. Give it some pressure. Observer to see if smoke leaks out of the pads.

A reg note will also "jump" if a hole is too obstructed.

You say your reed squeeks when you ' crow it'.... if you mean it squeeks when you have tested the reed by drawing air through it... sucked it ...... then it is possible that your reed head is leaking... it could be the sides of the head are not touching . To test this cover the open end of the lips with a finger and try to suck air through the staple... the reeds should be as air tight as possible.

Reed heads also squeek when the scrape is not balanced, one side thicker than the other etc.

Have you checked for mice.
