Bellows arm strap

Post by john »

I'm not able to get proper purchase on the chanter with my right hand. Could this be because there's some slackness in the strap?

Hard to say without seeing you play, but I would guess that it is much more likely that your blow pipe is too long or too short. Some professional pipers I have seen play with a very loose bellows arm strap - so loose that they can pull their arm right out without undoing the clasp.
