I have some Synthetic wooden, metal and plastic Drone reeds that use plastic tongue. Any tips of how to make cane tongue.

Cheers

I've only mucked about a little bit with this. One starting place is with a commercial made clarinet or saxophone reed. The machine made bottom 'lay' will be very flat and fine textured. Split and work to width. You might get several tongues from one reed. The upper 'lay' needs to be extended to get the proper flexibility. Let us know how you get on.

I found this earlier

Tim Britton instructions for cane tongue on wooden body

http://www.skep.com/britton/articles.htm#Drone Reeds

Ray Sloan instructions for cane tongue on metal body.

Ray uses cane tongue: Bass saxophone reed or Bass Clarinet reed soft grade also tenor Sax reeds for tenor and baritone drone reeds

Colin Ross has some great videos on YouTube of making cane tongues for brass bodied drone reeds.

You may find it useful too. The tongue is styrene but a cane one should be similar. A drawing with measurements is also shown.
