Reed making numbers for Boston Pipeworks chanter

Post by elbowmusic »

I've got an old Pipeworks of Boston chanter that I'm interested in reeding up. I don't have an old reed to look at, so wondering if anyone has any numbers to start with for this?

I know it's based on an older good Quinn chanter if that helps...

Also, any ideas for contacting the original makers?

You would do fine with what is generally followed for a Rowesome style reed, and substitute with a tubing staple.
Wild Goose Studios Music, reed making and pipe making.

So on that website the numbers for the tubing staple talk about 5 mm outside diameter .02 inches inside diameter. I'm just gonna ignore the inside diameter number.... should I assume that that tubing is probably 3/16" hobby tubing?.
