Downfall of Paris?

Post by Dave R »

Hi,

I found this and wondered if it might be related to the Downfall of Paris. It is from an Edinburgh publication c1790's

A little searching and I seem to have answered my own question  so here is that answer. Nice to see the history of a tune.

This is N.Gow, 1795

Its one of those tunes that creates a lot of comment: One of Napoleons marching bands played it and
he was not "APPY"

I am going to have a look at the dance steps in one of your links. If anyone has a dance for this tune please share
(not the military 2 step)
