unidentified practice set on ebay

Post by john »

there was a practice set on ebay that was going for £100 and was collection-only in Bedford, UK

a lot of people were interested but the maker was unknown

is anyone out there the buyer? if so, please give your impression of the set once you've got it going

thanks

Not sure if these have now been sold. I went to view them as I live in Bedford. Very nice people, completely genuine, but the pipes were naff. Bellows were shot. Bag was ok. Chanter stick was not named and the chanter top did not belong to it. Worth £0 as far as I was concerned. Might have been inclined to take a chance if not able to view, lesson learned.

Did you try a reed in the chanter to see what it sounded like?

there was a reasonable reed in the chanter, but the bellows were no functioning sufficiently to inflate the bag ( air leaking back through the inlet valve). Also the chanter top was not the correct one for the chanter, there was soooo much hemp to make it fit, that it was never going to play :(
Once again, I am convinced these were genuine sellers totally unaware of what they had and how it was supposed to function.
