Those reeds/worth a look

Hi I have received the reeds from Pakistan.
Looked the real deal all six played both octaves well in both the Rowsome and Hunter chanters. For me this is unheard of.
The sound was mellow with a nice edge. So I have bought another 5.

I stripped one down and on close examination the only thing I could pick was the saddle eye it was not as symmetrical as it should be
I am listing all the measurements:
Overall 82mm
Tip to tail 55.7mm
Thickness top of scrape one blade 1.44
Thickness at tip one blade 0.25
Tip 12.6
Scrape length 19.7
Tip to saddle 27.6
Tapper on saddle 30.3
Saddle eye outer 2.3 inner 1.6
Saddle 54.6 ID 3.27 OD 5.0

Tail bark removed, light gouge, smooth, looks good bottle shape no moisture used.
Scrape is confident and differs slightly on all reeds suggesting a desire for a strong crow.
No two reeds have the same colouring of cane, as you would expect. There is no comparison to
other P reeds

Whoever the reed maker is WELL DONE

I can now do a bit of fine tuning

And tits on a bull to you too

Interesting it would be great to hear them.
Can you post a video.

By the way I used a Pakistani bag and bellows without any issues for a few years now
without issue.

If someone can post a how to I could give it a go. But at $7.00 aud a reed why not give one a try
Tried bellows with success but the noise of the leather annoyed me does it soften with playing as i have them on a second set.
The bag was a disaster I used some of that bag sealer, what a mess

Another ruthless capitalist $7.50 aud a reed.(wealth beyond all measure) It must terrify pipe makers, imagine a flood of A1 Pakistani Pipes.
Sadly "A1 Pakistani Pipes" is an oxymoron. aint gunna happen.

I will be playing around with You Tube see if I can get these reeds online

Do you talk to trees as well? :pint:

I've ordered some as well, Bryan. Worth a shot! They're cheap enough!

I'm a bit closer to the city than you I reckon, but I'll point my pipes towards [s]Mecca[/s] the Barossa and pray they work! :-)

Hi Tom
Brave man... I have been messing around with a web cam and you tube. I will send a sound link (PMs)to you and others of the reeds. I don't want to put up a public link as I am not prepared as a novice to inflict my piping on an unsuspecting audience.
The web cam gives a general idea of the capability of the reeds.

I might give those a try as well.

They might not work as well here in Melbourne though, most reeds don't, but they are cheap.

I notice they have lots of 6, and lots of 5 which are more expensive.
Was it the cheaper 6 reed lot you referred to in the original post?

After checking the pic. at link in the previous thread 'maybe Worth a look',
the reeds in the more expensive 5 for AU$37.15 look closer than the cheaper 6 for AU$23.19.

I think I will try the more expensive option.

cheers.

OK Just be aware that there are two types being sold. buy the ones that have a defined scrape. Put the magnifier on and
check.
I bought a 6 at around $47.00 and a 5 around $38.00 should give some idea
