Seamus O'Rochain - An Buachaill Dreoite ?

Post by chaos97 »

I recently got this cd, & it's great. I initially burnt the disc to my laptop and put the files onto my mp3 player to listen to. My question for those that have it is about track 4 - Is there something off with the production here? The drones and regs sound fine but the chanter is distorted. Is there a reason for this, or was it something that slipped through to the final press?

I noticed the same thing and wondered what it was that could give that strange sound... Initially that reminded me of a double chanter I heard a while ago, same kind of sound. So I checked the sleeve notes but found he played with the same set on all the tracks... so...?

Same with my copy - it's a production flaw.

I was wondering - does he use the B. Haneman chanter on this recording at all? And what was the reason for having it made if he has the original?

Also, is it the same Coyne/or another Coyne chanter that appears on Clancy's "the Gold Ring" that gets detailed as a "between b and b flat" towards the end of the first disc?

As far as I remember he didn't have the Haneman chanter when he recorded that.

The original chanter has ondergone a tocillectomy in the past.

When I mentioned track 4 to him he said that he put it there to see if people listened to the CD.
