Can some kind soul help me? I'm trying to post photos and am having no luck. Here is what I'm doing with the image tag:

However, the image is not loading. I must be doing something obviously wrong. Any ideas? Thanks,

Jeff

You need the URL of the actual photo (typically ending in .jpg), not the flickr version that's masking it.

<edit>ytliek, it's already on flickr!</edit>

You have to have your photos uploaded on a hosting website, flickr, dropbox, photobucket, elsewhere on the internet. Then follow these instructions:

viewtopic.php?p=277948#p277948

Crossed posted.

From the page source, since flickr's not wanting to give it to me any other way...

(There are various-sized versions in there, but they really don't want you to know!)

'facade-of-protection-neue'... honestly! :boggle:

I've already loaded the jpg files on both flickr and smugmug, and have read the previous post a few years ago on loading photos. But when I right click, I don't get the "properties" option, only the "copy link" option.

flickr's not letting you get the URLs from right-clicking. They've got a clumsy (but limitedly effective) way of trying to stop folk copying your photos and it stinks! But you can get round it by viewing the page source and searching for 'jpg', where the mid-sized photos are the first thing you'll find and they're still trying to obscure the locations of the full-sized versions. But the mid-sized ones are a good size for a post here and you can link them to the original flickr pages with URL tags like this (just copy the code and paste it into your UIE listing):

Code: Select all

Noting that you have 'Safety level of this photo' specified as 'Safe', you can probably also make them easier to get at by reducing your flickr 'security' (?) settings... don't know because I don't use flickr, but would guess that to be the case!

What hosting site would you recommend in order to avoid the problems mentioned on this thread?

I set out the issues which are a consideration for me on the "guide to posting images" thread.
