It's a fine conundrum, isn't it, when one interrupts oneself: since it's already me, is there any point to being irritated about it? Of course not. But what is the good of tolerating one's own bad manners, whatever the case? This question should not be cast aside. So, I have to do something. Much of the time I take the middle road with such gaffes and do that time-honored kissoff, the smile-vacantly-and-nod thing - which, done as it so often is when I'm sitting by myself, assures people that I'm just being "enigmatic", if you like. The main thing is they know I pose no immediate danger.

Yeah, funny how that works. I'll be talking with my "special friends", and someone'll come up and nervously ask if I'm okay. "What, are you nuts?", I respond. Clears that issue up right fast.
