New forum - new behaviour
I hope I'm posting at the right place, if not let me know where to post.
The new design is great and many good things have been said, but one thing has changed that is just making ones (mine) life much harder... Any link I click opens inside the forum instead opening it in a seperate blank page. I keep closing links I've opened and have to navigate to the forum every time. Opening a new link also can have numerous navigations inside, and going back to the forum might take a while when clicking on the back button.
I hope there's a chance for this new behaviour to change as it was, opening links in a new blank window without losing the the forum window open.
Thank you,
Philip

I don't know about other browsers, but Mozilla gives you the option to open links in new tabs. It may just be a browser option that needs to be changed.

I moved this to Forum Support for you as that's where it belongs.
I have the same issue as you, Trip. I found no way around it, and then someone said I could hold down the "ctrl" key when I clicked on a link, and that would bring it up as a new page/tab. A little extra work with one finger, but I'm fine with that.

Hey! I just found that clicking on a link with the mouse wheel makes it into a new tab! Don't have to do the ctrl-key-left-click rigamarole after all...the stuff you find out by accident...

I thought that perhaps between "piper fingerings"
and "New forum - new behaviour"
you were getting confused/experimental.

Re: New forum - new behaviour
Denny,
I am working with tabs, visiting 10 other forums (other fields of life) - and new links open in a new tab as it should be. Here new links open in the current tab, no matter the browser setting. When I meant new window, I of course meant a new tab. It's a phpBB code issue I presume...
Clicking the scroller button is so strange, but works. Which basicly does forced opening of new tab...
Thank for the replies though,
cheers

Re: New forum - new behaviour
Right, Trip. You need to control that behavior yourself now. The forum doesn't do it automatically anymore.

Much the same here, I have quite a few tabs open.Trip- wrote:Denny,

I've not noticed any change in behavior. (Firefox w/Tab Mix Plus)
However, I want links to open in the same tab if the link is to the same domain and a new tab if not.
The Scroll Button is treated as a Middle Click (from a 3 button mouse).
Whatever the default action is for Middle Click is what you get.
There is some support for Control Click & Shift Click also....
FWIW, and it's not much Scroll Button opens the link in a new Window for me.
oh, if ya mean tab don't say window
