Looking for suggestions for a good/favorite YouTube downloader. A Chrome add-on is good; free is also good. But I'm open to anything.

I like youtube-dl. It's not exactly an easy clickie browser add-on, but it has some really cool features; for example, you can download entire playlists and immediately convert them to mp3 with one command. And it's in the public domain. :)

Thank you, megapop! I'm a fan of command line apps, so I'll definitely give it a try.

Added: Yep, it works. Very nice. :-)

Others?

Thanks, Kev! I've used different online converters, so for a change I'm kind of interested in a stand-alone or local app that isn't dependent on a third-party server. But I'll check those out.

I had to do a lot of YouTube downloads for later re-play as part of a position I held for some years. I used Any Video Converter for much of that time. I left that post a while back, so I am not sure where the product is today, but it was good to me for many years.

Some of what I liked about it was that it would do batch downloads and then convert to any format I needed.

Looks interesting, Feadoggie. Maybe overkill for my needs, but maybe not. Thank you. :)
