Easiest / Cheapest recording software...
Hi all,
I just bought an M-Audio M-Track to set up home recording that has both an input and monitoring. What's the easiest/cheapest software to use with this hardware to create tracks of my fluting with a second click track?
I have Audacity but I don't think Audacity has a click track feature.
Thanks.

I am sure you know that this is a similar question to "What's the best flute for me?" or "How long is a piece of string?".Akiba wrote:What's the easiest/cheapest software to use with this hardware to create tracks of my fluting with a second click track?
Audacity covers a lot of bases. We'd have to play twenty questions to zero in on a reasonable answer if Audacity doesn't fit your needs.

Reaper is amazing, affordable, but by no means easy.

There are older versions of Adobe Audition available for free on the net. You'll have to find one that gives you the registration code though, to unlock the software.

Re: Easiest / Cheapest recording software...
Thanks for the replies. I did get things working on Audacity. Made this recording using it: https://app.box.com/s/v6vuic6hmnpss1d3zaf7 .
I've already run into a problem, though: when I recorded with a click track, it would stop recording at 32 seconds. Do I have to change the cache or another setting to stop this glitch from happening?
I guess no recording is easy.

Yes, it was completely shutting down at 32", both tracks stopped.MeMyselfandI wrote:Does the click track only go for 32 seconds?Akiba wrote:I've already run into a problem, though: when I recorded with a click track, it would stop recording at 32 seconds. Re: Easiest / Cheapest recording software...
I'm assuming you mean 32 beats. Have you tried making the click track go for a longer period of time? Playing around with it now, all other tracks automatically stop when the click track stops. You can change the number of bars that the click track goes for in the window that opens when you hit "Generate, Click Track..." I'm not sure what all you've tried, so beyond this, I don't know.Akiba wrote:Yes, it was completely shutting down at 32", both tracks stopped.

- Tell us something.: Very much enjoy all flutes, bagpipes and whistles. I'm an older player; however, an active learner. I take current lessons from an Irish Flute tutor, a Boehm Flute tutor and a Highland Bagpipe tutor. I'm a great believer in lessons and without the assistance of a tutor, I find that I would be repeating the same mistakes over and over again, making me proficient in poor music.

Re: Easiest / Cheapest recording software...
maybe try cubase, that's not too hard to use and can produce good recordings. you can get the 'le' or light versions for free online i believe.
