OpenPipe, a pipe chanter midi controller

Post by fearfaoin »

I don't know if this has been featured here yet (search says no), but someone has built a pipe chanter MIDI controller using capacitive touch sensors. Everything appears to be open source and they sell kits.

This seems quite similar to the technochanters by Anders Fagerström, except for the open source midi interface. But on the other hand, there you don't need an iPad or something.

I know, I've seen several electronic pipe products.
It's the open source part I was interested in. And the ability to scale to a different form factor like whistle or flute.
But on the other hand, there you don't need an iPad or something.
Yes, that is the difference between a midi controller and an electronic instrument.
Although the Fagerström pipes do have a midi output as well... so you could hook it up to an iPad or something if you wanted.
