Hi y'all,

This morning we released Android versions of the Hohner SqueezeBox 3-row diatonic accordion apps!

They require either the "Ice Cream Sandwich" or "Jellybean" version (4.0 or later) of Android and are designed to work best on the larger screen phones and tablets.

You can find them all now on the Google Play Store:

Since there are a lot more Android phone models (over 500 supported) than iOS devices (3) we've been able to test it on only a relatively small number of real devices, so we'll be interested to hear how it's going.

If you have any bad issues or crashes, please drop me an email so we can address and fix any problems.

Cheers and thanks,

Michael

Neat, eskin! Did Hohner sponsor or collaborate with you this
time (I ask since the write up starts "Hohner announces")?
Though I don't play box, I'll buy it to try it out on my device
and support your smartphone efforts. I just need to figure out
which key would be useful for me...

I'd be curious to know how you found Android development
compares to developing for the iPhone.

I built the apps on my own a couple of years ago and posted the first version with my own branding. Hohner noticed them, liked what I had done, and approached me about branding them. It's a good deal for both of us.

I'm working with a friend and bandmate who is handling my Android ports, so I can't really comment on the difference in developing for the two platforms. I'm primarily an iOS developer these days, embedded Linux and Windows device drivers and middleware for graphics and video capture previously.
