Gàidhlig Albanach

Post by clairseoir »

Dè tha dol? :)

A bheil duine sam bi air a' bhòrd seo aig a bheil Gàidhlig? 'S ann ann an Glaschu a tha mise a' fuireach agus 's e oileanach a th'annam aig Oilthigh Ghlaschu. Tha dìreach ochd miosan on thòisich mi Gàidhlig ionnsachadh, ach bu toil leam Gàidhlig a bhruidhinn ri duine an seo - oir ged as ann i 'n Albainn a tha mi, cha bhi mi a' cleachdadh na Gàidhlig cho tric 's a bhidhinn ag iarraidh!

An dòchas gum bi duine gam thuigsinn.

Chan eil mise fhìn ro fhileanta fhathast! Càit an do dh'ionnsaich thu do Ghàidhlig? No a bheil thu ga h-ionnsachadh fhathast, dìreach mar mi fhìn?

Unfortunately, I can understand less than half of what you're writing. Much less can I compose a decent reply in Gaelic.

However, I had just the other day put my Julie Fowlis CDs in my car for regular play while driving to and from work, and had been thinking of reviewing and again studying Gaelic, so your post comes at a good time for some extra inspiration.

No worries, mate. :) I was saying I wasn't too fluent in Gaelic either and asking you where you'd learned yours, or if you were still studying Gaelic, just like myself.

Julie Fowlis is a great singer. If you like her, I'd also recommend that you have a listen to Griogair Labhruidh. To me he is the male Julie Fowlis, if that makes sense. :D

Hallo a Chlairseoir! Tha Gàidhlig aig duine neo dithis an seo. Thòisich mi-fhìn 'ga dh'ionnsachadh bho chionn 25 bliadhna, ged nach eil mi air a bhith 'ga cleachdadh gu tric ann an iomadh bliadhna. 'S ann an Ceap Breatainn a dh'ionnsaich mi i ach tha mi air a bhith ann an Albainn turas neo dhà cuideachd. An ann à Glaschu a tha thu?

No aig triur nist, leamsa fhìn! :P 'S ann às an Eilbheis a tha mi, ach 's ann ann an Glaschu a tha mi a' fuireach an-dràsta. 'S e "am baile mòr nan Gàidheal" an t-ainm eile a tha air cuideachd! Ach ged a tha e fìor gu bheil mòran Ghàidheal ann an seo, cha bhiodh tu a' cluintinn na Gàidhlig air sràidean a' bhaile seo gu h-àbhaisteach - mur eil fhios agad càit a' bheil taighean-seinnse Gàidheil Ghlaschu!

Tha mi a' faicinn gur ann a' Mhassachusetts an Iar a tha thu a' fuireach. A bheil thu às-san cuideachd? No an ann à Cheap Breatainn a tha thu? Carson an do thòisich thu Gàidhlig ionnsachadh? An e Albanaich (Gàidheil) a bha ann an do shinnsearan?

Càit' ann an Eilbheis? 'S ann as a' Ghearmailt a tha mo bhean agus chaidh sinn gu Basel turas neo dhà nuair a bha i aig an oilthigh ann am Freiburg. 'S e baile snog a th'ann.

'S ann à Massachusetts (goirid do Bhoston) a tha mi agus thàinig mo chuideachd as an Roinn-Eòrpa an Ear - 'se Iodais a bha iad a' bruidhinn nuair a ràinig iad na Stàitean. Ghabh mi ùidh anns a' cheòl an toiseach, agus an uair sin anns a' chànan. Bha mi ag obair air a' Ghàidhlig fad bliadhna leam-fhìn, le lebhraichean is teipichean (agus 'se teipichean a bh'ann gu dearbh!). An uair sin chaidh mi gu Ceap Breatainn, agus thuit mi ann an gaol 'sa bhad leis an àite. Chan eil mòran ann fhathast aig a bheil Gàidhlig ach tha feadhainn ann a tha a' strì air a son.

Agus a nisd, gabh do naidheachd fhèin! Carson an do ghabh thusa ùidh anns a' Ghàidhlig?
