It's an alternate spelling of "sgimileareachd"* (pron. [sgʲimɪlɛrəxk]), which does indeed mean visiting people at mealtimes, but can also mean intrusion more generally. A quick look at Dwelly's Gaelic-English Dictionary reveals that the word "sgimilear" means "1. Vagrant parasite 2. Gossip, intruder, moucher. 3. Instrument for skimming. 4. Mean person who steals from pots."
For example, "Bha an sgimilear spìocach 'ud a' dèanamh sgimileareachd gòrach nuair a bha mi ag ithe mo dhìnnear. (That damned stingy, vagrant parasite was making a foolish, intrusive visit while I was eating my dinner.")
*Airson an fhìrinn innse, cha robh mi eòlach air an fhacal seo a-riamh, ach 'se facal cudromach a th'ann, gun teagamh!
