I think some of you know that I sing with Mary Mc Laughlin's "Cór Ainglí" every year here in Santa Cruz, and that I edited her "Irish Gaelic Christmas Songbook." I just found out that her CD, "A Gaelic Christmas" placed fourth in the "Best Holiday Album" category of the Just Plain Folks Indie Awards! A Christmas CD...all in Irish!

This is the same music we sing in the concert, much of which is in the songbook as well. Well, I should add that we do additional music in the concert now...the CD was based on the arrangements Mary did for the first concert in 2006. The choir isn't on the CD, by the way (she records the harmonies using multi-tracking, which creates a really nice, tight, sound. Hard to do in live performance, which is why she formed the choir)...but hey...why guild the lily!

There are some sound samples from the CD here, if you want to enjoy:

"Leanbh sa Mhainséar" (Child in the Manger) is my personal fave.
