I wrote a letter in Irish and understood the reply!

A very short letter, to be fair, but I am still pretty chuffed (Brit-speak for "pleased").

My email to an irish-speaking colleague:

A Orla,
Tá pacáiste beag agat anseo. Tá sé i do trae phoist.
Elizabeth

Her reply:

Dia dhuit Beth!
Go raibh maith agat. Ta me ag obtair a bhaile innu ach gheobhaidh me an pacaiste de luain.
Slan go foill,
Orlaigh.

("Orla, a small package is here for you. It is in your post tray." "Hello Beth! Thanks. I am working at home today but I will get the package on Monday.")
An bhfuil aon dearmad i mo Ghaeilge? Abair mé, le do thoil!
