Tell us something.: I need help transcribing whistle music! My 'by ear' listening and playing isn't all that good. I hope I can find that help here.

Nope. Don't like 'em. They don't capture the ambience of this website. I'm a cruel critic. I do like the idea though.

mute, yer missing an opportunity here...

Start a thread to collect offerings of favicons.
Then you can start a poll to pick one.

Then you can talk MTGuru into adding it to the templates. (Not Nano  )

You don't need to add it to the template. Stick it in the site's root public web folder and your browser does everything else.
And now there was no doubt that the trees were really moving - moving in and out through one another as if in a complicated country dance. ('And I suppose,' thought Lucy, 'when trees dance, it must be a very, very country dance indeed.')

I had to learn it at least twice, as I recall, so don't take it personally.

Agreed. I think mutie should try it before
gettin' all critical-y :) I went through 4
iterations before settling on my admittedly
mediocre one.

I tried to get a whistle drawing crammed in
there, but it looked decidedly... phallicular.

I like s1m0n's 3-dot idea from the regular website.
I just happened upon this blogpost about subpixel
fonts, which might help with the favicon size.

(These might only be visible on LCD screens, since
the fonts depend on alignment of subpixels.)

Here's another, using Ken Perlin's incredible subpixel font:

Chiff's problem is that nealy everything distinctive about a whistle is linear, not square.

Yes. I'd like to have put in a nice trinity knot,
but I'm better with audio than graphics. Which
is probably another of Chiff's problems.

The three dots were wrong too. Close but wrong.
I'd have to see the knot before I said I didn't like it.

I once tried doing a poll with pictures and wasn't able to get the images as the choices. I am clueless how to make a favicon. I rock at being a cruel critic.
