Half hole technique

Half hole technique

Post by markcain »

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie. Got my first whistle, Burke DBN, for Christmas. Love this forum.

What is your half hole technique?

I have found I can get the c natural by lifting the tip of my index finger up and I can also get it by slightly rolling the index finger toward the fipple. Before I grow accustomed to one way or the other, I would like to make sure I'm using a good technique, one that will serve me well for many years, and will not inhibit me from playing faster (once I am able).

Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

I see you have posted on the same on the whistle forum, so no need to point you in that direction. Good use of the test forum.

But testing out how to post for the first time the way that markcain just did seems to be a bit more in the spirit of the form than the post count boosting that I normally do down here.

Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Watch it Denny, Nano is the only mod to lock a thread down in the basement. DON'T mess with him down here!

PS, anyone know how J.E.S. is doing?

Well, I haven't been very successful at getting threads locked. Some people can get threads locked in a single post or two. It seems a skill that I lack. :(
