Boxwood Keyless Sam Murray flute with half lined head and silver rings.

As you may know, Murray flutes can be rather inconsistent - many good, some not so much..... and a seemingly rare few are great. At least that seems to be the case for the Murray flutes that Sam sent to the states. This flute is one of the great ones IMO, it’s the second best Murray I have ever run across, but then I bought it from a player in Ireland, where I believe Sam has tended to home his best examples.

Anyway, the flute is in top condition with few signs of wear. Wonderful player with that fantastic Murray response and tone.

$1400. Includes shipping and insurance to U.S. destinations. Willing to ship to Canada for additional fee. Not available for delivery elsewhere, sorry but I’ve had way too many problems with international shipping and receiving in recent years.

Forgot to mention that this flute is actually straight! No banana flute! That in and of itself is very rare for a stateside Boxwood Murray. Also has very nice aged Boxwood color.

Pictures on request for serious parties, include your email address when sending me a pm for pics.

I should also add that this is an easy player. I mention this because another flute player recently tried the flute and was surprised how easy it was to play, saying that he’d always heard Murray flutes were more challenging than some. I never really had that opinion of Murray flutes myself, but I imagine the idea stems from those who maybe have played less good Murrays? Can’t say for sure, just my thought.
This flute also has a strong bottom end and no tuning issues.

Some may wonder why I’m selling if it’s such a fantastic flute, fair enough: After many years of keeping and maintaining wooden flutes, whistles and guitars, I’m over the time and effort required to constantly monitor and manage humidity levels. Refilling a 20+ oasis and other types of humidifiers every week or two has just become a real drag. I’d rather spend the time doing other things. So, I’m selling off most of my wooden instruments to make life easier and my living space less cramped. Someone is going to end up with a very nice flute out of this.
