T. Prowse London flute FS

Post by dholly »

Hi all,
I have an old flute marked T. Prowse, Hanway Street, London, that I am putting out there for consideration. It has the flat low D, and the sharp A and B, pretty typical of these flutes from that era. It has a repaired (not me) crack in the head and barrel, totally sealed though. Lots of us ponder over how these were played in their day.
I do find this flute a lot of fun to play, just not in session with others. All keys, slide, and rings appear to be original. The hardware also seems to be silver, but tarnishes to a soft yellow, maybe a lower silver content versus sterling?. They do not corrode like German silver does. There is a funky wooden box with it if you would want it.
I am asking 900$ + shipping, states only. If interested in purchasing, send me a pm on this site. And if just interested in the flute itself out of curiosity, I will try to answer any details you may be wondering about. Here are some pics,,,
