Up for sale is a half-set made by Neil O'Grady with all the reeds (chanter and drones) made by myself. The set is composed of Cocobolo wood, brass, and Maplewood mounts, a brand new airtight riveted leather bag from Kelleher Bags, and an updated Neil O’Grady bellows.

The chanter was purchased new from Neil in 2001. It is the first chanter I ever owned and has served me well. It has 3 keys (C natural, F natural, & Bb). A few years after purchasing it, I sanded down the large mounts and thumb rest to make it look more aesthetically normal. The wooden chanter top is from pipe maker Tommy Martin in South American Rosewood. It matches very well with the chanter body.

The chanter comes with three reeds (see pictures) made by myself. They are both over a year old and blown in fully (will not settle with time).
1. The first reed is very stable with wonderful tone and a great stable back D note. It is medium-strong blowing and has been played in many different climates (dry-humid). The reed gives this chanter a professional sound and would be suitable for someone wanting to upgrade. I have played the chanter with this reed in many sessions - it is always strong and holds its own.
2. The second reed is quieter and easier blowing. It has very good tuning and decent tone. It would be more suitable for someone just starting out on the pipes.

3. The third reed is made from spruce wood. It has very good tone, is in tune, and is super stable. It should play in every environment and not be affected by climate- temperature and humidity (especially dry climate). It will actually play better in a dry climate. It’s a great reed.

The drones are matching Cocobolo with maple wood mounts and brass.

The drone reeds (see pictures) are a composite of drone cane bodies and wooden (Spruce) tongues for the baritone and bass with a plastic tongue for the tenor (see pictures). I believe the cane bodies give them a similar tone comparable with traditional drone cane reeds, but are much less sensitive to climate. They are well balanced and super stable. They turn on and off easily with the switch, but also can be turned off for tuning by momentarily blocking the drone hole.

Neil O’Grady bellows with new lap belt, reinforced brass wood screws (instead of wood tacks) and homemade elbow pad (attached with velcro).

The set also comes a very nice hard case with plenty of room for up to a full set and very sturdy. (Please note: the bellows in the picture is not the Neil O'Grady bellows for sale.)

I am asking $2,500 US for the half-set, however I would be willing to break the set up and sell the it in parts.
Chanter/reeds = $1,250
Drones/Bag = $1,000
Bellows = $350
Case = $50

I am willing to ship the set within the US or internationally. I ship cane internationally all the time, so I am familiar with a customs form. Buyer to pay shipping.

Please check out the video and pictures. Email me (sampsoncane at gmail dot com) or private message me if interested.

Thanks and all the best,
Joseph Sampson
