Location, Location

Post by MTGuru »

"I'm looking for an instrument / lesson / session in my area. Can anyone help?"

"I'm new to ITM. Is it OK for me to take my gaita / gusle / glockenspiel to a local session?"

"What's the best way to send an ivory-encrusted whistle mute to New York / Dublin / Outer Mongolia?

"My friend knocked me up at 2 in the morning. Now what should I do?"

* * * * *

The answers to all these questions and more have one thing in common: They depend on where you are located.

The Mods have noticed a tendency for both new (and some old) users to leave the Location field in your personal Profile blank. We don't enforce filling it in as mandatory. But the Chiffboard is an international community; and like Waldo, knowing where in the world you are can be a useful and helpful piece of information to other members, and save a lot of unnecessary guesswork.

So please, newer Chiffers especially, take a moment to go to your Profile page and fill in your Location.

N.B. If you are being held captive on DaleForce One, special Chiff protocol CB-10-20A may apply.

It's where the wind comes sweeping down all sorts of things. I've seen it to sweep down the grain elevator.

Unless your name is Napoleon. In which case, a Location of Elba, St. Helena, or Les Invalides will do.

Tell us something.: I used to be a regular then I took up the bassoon. Bassoons don't have a lot of chiff. Not really, I have always been a drummer, and my C&F years were when I was a little tired of the drums. Now I'm back playing drums. I mist the C&F years, though.

Sadly (or not) I did not need the video to know what you were referring to. In fact, every time see the word Oklahoma, I sing that song just like that. And my kids are 19 and 16!!

My location is in a wood box, I'd hang here for awhile, but it's summer and we're running out of ice.

Luxury!!

We used to dream bout wood box!

135 of us in shoebox in middle o' 't road
E'ry mornin', half hoor fore wen' t bed - had to get oop, lick road clean wi' tongue .. etc etc etc .. stuff about working at t' mill ...

I've always made a point of letting people know where I am. Enough info to hit me with a satelite mounted lazer - and then saying outrageously lefty provocative stuff online to see if anyone does. So far - no grief - and I've been doing it for years :D
All the best!

It's not the satellite-mounted laser you have to worry about. It's the policeman in riot-gear with a night-stick.
