Much better than the Tonette but just as annoying!

Pretty much the same thing, IMO. Both capable of inflicting great pain while also capable of making some decent music.

For $2.50 the Precorder is a lot of musical instrument. It's cheaper than any of the decent whistle out there - and it is chromatic.

So don't be dissing the Tonette. :) It's a matter of what you do with these things I think. If you can get past the simplicity and inexpensive nature of the Tonette it can be pretty amusing.

Heck, There's one on a classic Cream track, IIRC.

There was a Tonette in the house when I grew up. It was my father's. Never knew how it came into his possession. It was my first wind instrument. I actually used it on stage, as a novelty, back in the 60's. But, you know, that was the 60's. I seem to have lost that Tonette along with my earliest whistles and recorders at some point.
