Choosing between Aulos soprano recorders

Post by ganchan »

I'm looking to pick up a plastic Aulos soprano recorder to complement the Aulos tenor and alto I already own, and as an alternative to my Yamaha soprano which I've had for years and years. I've narrowed my choice down to either the A503B or the A703B ("Haka") models, but can't decide between the two. Can anyone here comment first-hand on either of these instruments? Any opinions appreciated.

ganchan,

I have been playing an Aulos 703B soprano for over 5 years and like it. It has a nice baroque tone and is easy to play
in tune with others.

Thanks. Yes, I get the impression that players (and Aulos itself) recommend the A703B more as a solo instrument, and the A503B more for consort/ensemble playing. A few have also described the 703B as slightly "harder to play," but I'm not quite sure what they mean by that. More sensitive to technique, perhaps?
